2024 International Bassoon Artistry and Unconventional Collaboration Competition

COMPETITION GOAL

The goal of the competition is to encourage aspiring bassoonists to produce a video recording of a performance that focuses on originality and creativity. Performers are expected to collaborate with others in the utilization of interdisciplinary art forms, such as dance, literature, visual art, theatre, poetry, free improvisation, music concrete and ethnomusicology. Bassoonists must be the producers and featured performers on the video. This competition is open to bassoonists who are currently enrolled in higher education.

COMPETITION REPEROTIRE

• Length of video: 7-12 mins.

• Please see the competition goal statement for repertoire ideas. Works may range from traditional to new compositions.

COMPETITION DATES

Submission Deadline: March 10, 2025

The application (via Google Forms) will open on February 10, 2025.

Virtual Ceremony: TBA

REGISTRATION

Registration is free. Potential participants are required to submit the application for the 2024 International Bassoon Artistry and Unconventional Collaboration Competition using Google Forms.

COMPETITION GUIDELINES

The competition will be held exclusively online with recorded videos uploaded to YouTube. 

•  Please submit the application for the 2024 Bassoon Artistry and Unconventional Collaboration Competition using Google Forms.

• All videos must be good quality and sound. Please upload your video to YouTube and include the link with your application. The videos must be set to “Unlisted” mode. (Title the video as follows: “Last Name_First Name_IBAC")

• The adjudicators’ decision will be final and no communication with the judging panel is permitted.

• All cash prizes and donations will be directly distributed from sponsors to the winners.

• If a prize winner is unable to accept a prize, no cash equivalent will be offered to the prize winner.

• Applicants can apply to both competitions. 

ELIGIBILITY

Ages 18-30 as of December 31, 2024

The age of competition participants must be within the range of 18-30 on December 31, 2024. This competition is open to bassoonists who are currently enrolled in higher education.
